One of the most recognised and popular photo competitions worldwide, the CEWE Photo Award, kicks off its fifth edition, aiming to celebrate the beauty of the world, with entries opening on the 16th May. After a record number of entries in the last competition (more than 600,000), CEWE is again expecting many participants over the next 12 months. The motto of this year’s CEWE Photo Award, “Our world is beautiful”, is more relevant than ever. For the next twelve months, amateur and professional photographers can submit their best shots for free to the popular photo competition with categories including; Landscapes, People, Nature, Architecture and Technology, Sports, Cooking and Food, Hobby and Leisure, Animals, Travel and Culture and Aerial Photography.
Each participant may submit up to 100 photos during this period. The 1000 first-place winners can look forward to prizes totalling more than €250,000. In addition, three monthly winners will be chosen, each receiving a voucher for CEWE photo products worth €100. Charity partner, SOS Children’s Villages worldwide, has been selected, with 10 Euro cents being donated for every photo submitted to an educational project of the children’s relief organisation. To celebrate the launch of the 2023 competition, CEWE held an event at the Old Street Gallery in London, inviting the press, relevant CEWE spokespeople and winners of the 2021 competition. The event was an opportunity to hear from the UK and Ireland winners about their experience, admire the winning entries and launch the competition for this year.

Christian Friege, CEO of CEWE, said: “The record participation of more than 600,000 photos submitted in the last competition and the worldwide press response has shown us that the CEWE Photo Award has established itself in the international professional photo scene. “In view of the reawakened joy of long-distance travel and the opportunity to discover the most remote corners of the world, we are expecting more competition entries than ever before.” For more information and to enter: www.cewephotoaward.com To celebrate the upcoming awards, here’s a look back at some of the best entries from the 2021 competition.
