Sanyo releases its highest spec underwater camera12 August 2010
Sanyo has launched its highest specification waterproof Dual Camera in the UK. The pocket size Xacti VPC-CA100 is waterproof up to three metres (10 feet) and shoots both full 1080i High Definition footage and 14 mega-pixel high-resolution still images. The Xacti's signature slim-line, pistol-grip chassis makes shooting underwater easier than ever and a dual record button allows users to take pictures instantly even while shooting a movie.
It has a wide-angle 35mm lens, shoots 1080i footage at 60fps, is watertight to a depth of 3 metres and incorporates a 12x Double Range Advanced Zoom2 function (5 x optical zoom). It has a built-in light/flash to help brighten dark underwater scenes, and a bespoke underwater filming mode adjusts colour and contrast ratios to ensure true-to-life colours and brightness for both video and still images (which a recorded on an SD card). An improved digital image stabiliser keeps footage smooth and makes shooting moving targets easier than ever before. It has a a 2.7inch TFT LCD display yet is less than 5cm thick and weighs just 242g.
Available in 'high vis' yellow and pink, as well as black, the pocket size CA100 is ideal for the beach or pool but also has a wealth of specialist applications, from scuba diving to skiing, and also provides peace of mind when filming in the rain or snow.
