As you would expect the standard of entries by Guild members into April's Guild 'National Image of the Month' competition was very high and the panel had a difficult task to choose a winner.

Despite the fact a very strict level of marking is applied several members submissions obtained coveted 'Bronze Bars' and 5 images were recognised as being of 'Silver Bar' standard including the winning entry by Somerset's Merille Ryder who is 'registered' member with the Guild.

She has won a years free insurance cover from the provider of our cover - the highly acclaimed 'InFocus' insurance  who offer comprehensive cover, great personal service and fantastic value - especially through the Guild's own scheme. (

To say she is delighted is an understatement. She said 'I haven't stopped grinning ... Winning has given me a great confidence boost because I am, like many photographers, my own worst critic.'

A mention also needs to go to Scottish 'Craftsman' John McDermott as two out of his three submissions obtained a 'Silver Bar'. (

Next months competion is now underway!
