Ricoh has announced the release of the very rugged WG-5 GPS camera.

The WG-5 has a great shockproof rating of 2.2m, is waterproof to 14m and is cold-resistant to temperatures to as low as -10 degrees centigrade. It is even crushproof to a force of 100kg. A very robust piece of kit!

There is no compromise on photographic quality either. The 16 megapixel camera's combination of a large-aperture, four-times optical zoom lens with a maximum aperture of F2.0 and a highly sensitive, back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, means it can deliver high-quality, noise-free images, even when shooting poorly illuminated subjects like underwater scenes, nightscapes and indoor sports events.

It has lots of clever features too such as a new underwater flash off and flash on mode which takes an image with flash and one without in just one shutter press.

The WG-5 GPS is due for release in March and has an RRP of £259.99. For more information, take a look at the Ricoh website.
