Imagine a trip to the capital of China. Pretty special! What if it was hosted by a small, friendly team that included Mandarin speakers and two pro photographers from the Guild? Imagine not having to worry about knowing your way around, or speaking the language, or knowing the best places for exceptional photo opportunities. Imagine having all your meals included, and the eateries having been researched for you ahead of time with advice from locals. Imagine this and all your accommodation being equivalent to four-star hotels, all your flights included, all travel between sites, all entry fees to attractions. Models pre-arranged for you to shoot in amazing locations. And hosted by people who appreciate the best times of day to shoot and have factored this in. Then, for good measure, add Inner Mongolia to the itinerary. This is what's on offer for this Photohubs special. For two whole weeks in July 2018, you can get a fully-hosted, immersive experience into the culture and sights of this part of China, with the focus on nothing but photography. To top it all, photography guru and Guild judge Julie Oswin will be on hand to offer any shooting advice you need.
You can't really go to Beijing and not see the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. So those are included, as is the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven. But you will also get to see the real life of the city: the alleyways and back streets where ordinary life goes on. And of course, the wilder side: Inner Mongolia has desert and grassland, horses, camels, yurts, and festivals of sports in traditional dress. So much local colour to photograph. You even get to see world-renowned Chinese circus acrobats. And there will still be time for some shopping!
The team who put this trip together, ACES, have built a relationship with the largest photographic association in China, The China Photographers Association, having organised an exhibition of their members' work in the UK, and have used insights from some of their top officials in planning the trip. ACES are currently arranging an evening during the trip for you to socialise with the CPA and some of its members to share some of your masterpieces over a glass of beer!
